Frequently asked questions

With our SAM kits, it's very simple: screw them onto your structure one by one, placing the right and left parts face to face, then insert the slats. The left kit is placed on the left when you have your back to the house (suggested drawing).

To avoid cutting your blades, allow a spacing of 2.035 m (blade length + kit thickness + operating clearance) between two sections for aluminum and 1.035 m for wood (+ drawing).

Please note that the slats can be adapted to your existing structure by cutting them with a hacksaw for aluminum and a wood saw for wooden slats. It is also possible to cut your kit with a hacksaw.

The slats prevent rain from entering and limit water ingress when closed. In heavy rain, the slats may open.

They are equipped with grooves that allow rainwater to be collected and drained away at the ends. To reduce this runoff, we offer gutters that collect and direct water to the ends of the pergola. The gutter is screwed onto the structure, 6-7 cm below the kit. We recommend creating a slope of 1 cm per meter.

(see tutorial on how to make a gutter).

No, we only supply the covering, to be placed on the structure. We leave you free to choose the material you wish to use for your structure (wood, metal, aluminum). For advice on the choice of material and dimensions, you can consult a specialist in carpentry or metalwork.

For your information:

  • Weight of kit + aluminum blades: 12 kg/m²
  • Weight of kit + wooden slats: 8 kg/m²
Yes, the kits can support blades other than ours, but we still recommend using those sold on our website. They have been tested with our supports and we know their quality and treatments.

Conditions to be met:
Blades Aluminum Wood
Maximum length 2000 mm 1000 mm
Width 3.95 inches 95 mm
Weight 2 kg 0.650 kg
Material / Carpentry quality: Douglas fir, spruce, red cedar (exotic wood to be avoided)

Manual roof opening:

  • With rod and rotating plate: screw the plate onto thesecondkit (seventhblade) and onto the side of the blade.

Mechanical roof opening:

  • With stirrup and winch: the door is opened by turning the crank handle.

Manual windbreak/privacy screen opening:

The aluminum slats (18 or 20 mm) are designed to fit together when closed (the surface is therefore flat).

    Wood blades overlap each other.

The 18 mm thick slats are preferred for vertical surfaces (windbreaks/privacy screens) due to their aesthetic appeal. They come with an optional noise-reducing seal to reduce the slamming noise when closing.

The 20mm thick slats are better suited to roof surfaces (pergolas) as they are more robust. They have water collection grooves to prevent rainwater from accumulating.

For each type of blade, it is necessary to choose the kit that is suitable for the thickness.
